Question:

Computer won't connect to router?

Every time I start my computer it wont connect to the Internet, even if I should do that automatically. I try to connect manually but it just says it doesn't receive ant packages and that it could be due to weak connection even tough it has 3 out of 5 sometimes 4 out of 5. My sisters computer connects fine. I configured the network so both computers have static IP ( different IP for each computer of course). In order to connect I have to restart the router a couple of times and then it connects just fine, but if i restart my computer I have to do it again.

Additional info:

The router is a "Belkin wireless G MIMO" The wireles card is a "Realtek 8185 Extensible 802.11b/g Wireless Device" and I have Windows Vista on my computer my sister has XP. The network is WPA protected.

Here is a video of me trying to connect. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSh9kdHyuII

I hope someone can help me I'm so tired of this sh*t

  1. To confirm all the physical layer is correct, why not activate DHCP on the router and use a dynamic IP and DNS on the pc.  If all works there, then you know the physical layer is working.  Should you wish to go to a static LAN IP after that, make sure you use the proper IP subnet, subnet mask, and DNS (use the router for DNS).
