I know for a fact that everything is hooked up correctly, and that the power supply is working (i plugged another computer up to it). If i damaged the motherboard when putting it in, would that keep the computer from turning on?

  1. damaged how? Electro static shock damaged? dropped on the ground damaged? broken crystal, capacitor, resistor, diode damage? be sure to check your pin connectivity, are the jumpers on the right pin? is the power supply your using the power meant for the motherboard?

  2. A faulty motherboard would stop WINDOWS loading..but all your case fans and other fans SHOULD start up normally...especially if the PSU is working fine

Also...do you know if your power supply has enough Watts to power your new computer?

Some motherboards require 2 individual power sources from the PSU...maybe you forgot one??

Try plugging everything up to a different power socket

Try removing the graphics card and starting up

    Hope this helps!

  3. If you bought a motherboard thats been around a while and a cpu that's just been released it could be the bios on the board doesn't support the cpu. I'm in the business and I've had to flash the bios on brand new boards to run the cpu I was using with it. Ok for me as i has a bunch of cpus but stinks for people that dont. When you installed the ram you should have pressed it in until you heard a "click" at each end and the end clips should have closed and locked by themselves. sometimes people will close the end clips by hand when the ram isn't fully seated. Also look in the manual and make sure you have them in the right slots. Some boards are finicky about what slots you put the ram in. If you have an old cpu of the same configuration laying around toss it in and see if it will fire up. If it does note what bios you have then go to the cpu support page for that board and see what bios you need to run the cpu its not running. If you need  a newer bios flash the board with the old cpu in. If you bought an "open box" board or got it off Ebay you probably have a dead board.

Unplug everything from the board except the video card, even the hard drive, and see if you can boot into bios--dont need a hard drive for that. If you can then go from there. Almost every time, if all the hardwares compatible, its the board. I assume the board supports that cpu? Just because, for example. its a 775 board that doesn't mean it will run every 775 cpu made. A lot of 775 boards wont run Core 2 Duos or even the Prescott P4s with 2MB of cache. If nothing at all happens when you press the power button I'd try shorting the pwr header on the board briefly and see if it fires up. Even if the boards bad the fans should still start to spin. Like someone said, could be a bad pwr switch or you have it connected to the wrong header or its a pin off.

I looked up your board. Need the latest bios F4 to run an E8400. G-Skill isn't on the list of certified ram but that doesn't  mean you cant run it. If you have another rig with DDR2 in it may want to try it with that ram just to be sure thou.

If it turns out the board is bad and you RMA it, if you dont need a micro board you may want to spend about $20 more and go with this board. A lot nicer--P35 is a very stable chipset and overclocks extremely well:

  4. It's either the motherboard is damaged , or your power button is not connected properly.

Also, if one of the components connected to the mobo is non-compatible this may be the cause of the problem.

You need to give more information really.
