  1. Check if a firewall is blocking you from connecting. Have you been able to connect to the internet before?

  2. if you have a laptop go to start Connect To and connect to the internet

  3. Are you wired or wireless?

Open up a cmd window with Start Run.

Type in IPCONFIG /all and determine if you are getting a gateway IP address (should be the router IP address)  On this same screen you should see if your wired or wireless adapter are showing a valid IP address (not a 169.x.x.x type of number)

If you are seeing any kind of IP address conflict then you can use the IPCONFIG /release command to 'let go' of your current IP then use the IPCONFIG /renew to go out to the router and get a 'fresh' IP number.

Has the router been reconfigured?  Did this PC ever connect to the internet?

  4. if you are using the same router with all the three... i.e. your sister's computer, PS3 and your computer... and only your computer cant connect then obviously there is some 'internet settings' problem with your PC..

try calling up your service provider... he might be in a position to assist you...
