Question:

Computers and Eyesight, dealing with Parents.

My parents used to constantly tell me that playing computer too much was bad for me. I believed them and I spent most of my time outdoors playing soccer, riding my bicycle, etc.

But then after we moved to a new house, my parents stopped letting me go outside, and my best choice was to play computer and interact with my friends online.

Now after getting my eyesight checked; it seems that I am nearsighted, and now my parents only let me on for one hour a day, and they don't let me go go outside. All I do now is draw, read whenever I'm allowed to the library, and sleep. This is really bothering me and I am really stressed.

They still believe that playing on the computer will destroy my eyesight (and their excuse for not letting me go outside is that the sun will make me sick. Seriously, even after I show them full evidence.)

Other than sneaking out, or sneaking on the computer, what are my options?

  1. As a parent, if you could prove that you are on the computer for educational purposes  and not games and playtime.

Get reading glasses to help, like I have and that might help. But for just playing, sorry eyesight is worth more than that.

you said you draw, so why not go on line about that and see about advancing your future in different areas of that , like making cartoons or 3-D figures in video games and so on.
