  1. Cars do have built in computers that manage various parts of the car.

this link can provide you with more information on the subject.

  2. i.am sorry to tell you this, but your friend is right. all the cars today have at least 1 computer in them. that,s what controls the emissions, like electrical and fuel systems.

  3. Depends on the definition of computer you each are using.  Technically, cars do have "computers" because the electronic system constantly processes information from the engine components to make your car run at its best.  It's not the computer we all recognize, but it does act like a computer by processing information and causing the car to run better.

Since I don't really understand your term "power sources", I have to side with your friend,  Your term sounds more like a simple "power generator" (battery or alternator) instead of an "information processor".

  4. i hate to tell you this but they do in fact have computers. sure they do not have the same abilities as your pc at home but they still monitor inputs calculate factors and regulate outputs. it stores factors  for future reference, consults information charts. a cigarette lighter is a power source. a cpu is a processor that does a great deal more that just turn the car on.

  5. sorry to say this but all cars have at least one computer in them it says so at this site http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question11...

  6. Don't you mean ,your friend Knows that cars have computers. Sorry , your friend is right. Computers are the reason cars are getting better gas mileage these days. Many new cars are also coming with navigation systems, which are computers.

  7. You can't. All modern cars have an Engine Control Unit/Module and a few other little computers that reside in between the footwells of my cars interior and usually in similar places on other vehicles.

  8. depends upon your definition of computers... they have processors on board not computers as you know them with hard drives but they have computers in all cars since about 1990... Most have at very minimum 2 in the US with most at 5+ in every car.

Minimum is engine computer and airbags (both required by federal law)

most also have for lights and possibly transmissions also

  9. most cars made in the last 20 yrs have one of sorts.. so might be a bit wrong in your thinking,, now if one can plug in a computor and program a car to change something what might be what it is they are programing into? computer
