I am about to get my Confirmation but to get it I need to do 15 hours of Comunity Service.

Does anyone have suggestions of what I should volunteer to do?

  1. Gather some of your friends together and do a food drive for a local food pantry.  Perhaps your church even has one there.  Summertime is a hard time for food pantries.

Ask you minister or pastor if there is any elderly person in your parish that could use your help for a few weekend.   You could rake their yard, weed the garden, paint a fence, help do some of the heavier household chores they can no longer do.

  2. go to a church. many can use volunteer work. find one that has a ministry that deals with the public, like food or something. 15 hours is not that much time -  should go quickly.

  3. You can volunteer at:

    Hospital

    Local Library

    Nursing Homes

    Rehabilitation Centers for the Disabled

    Parks & Recreation

    Privately owned gardening centers

    Day Care Centers

Mow a lawn for an elderly neighbor

Also, do not overlook your local animal shelters. They always need someone to play with and walk the animals.

    Homeless shelters

    Food Banks

    Soup Kitchens

    Botanical Gardens

    Aquariums

  4. Read to sick kids in the hospital

make baby quilts for new Born's

    help clean a church

    MS walk a thon

    Relay for life

    volunteer at a retirement home

    help kids/adults with special needs

Plant some flowers or trees around your town

    endless stuff...
