Con edison wants to strike in Ny?

Question

So con edision employees are threatening to strike ( con ed is our gas and electric company in ny ) . well their employees are threatening to strike this week. Will this affect our electricity? Can they turn of the lights? i know when the mta had a strike al New yorkers were stuck and could not travel anywhere for 3 days unless they had a car , and if you took a cab they were charging an arm and a leg , what could happen if there is a strike with the electric company?

They have gone on strike before.  Just hope we don't have any storms or significant accidents that create power outages because the company will have to rely on management.  Lord knows they aren't well known for their crack solution of problems.
