State : Florida. I have heard conflicting accounts as to if you need a holster or not for personal carry. I cannot find the statute saying anything on it.

Also state of florida allows for carry of a switchblade but i cannot find anything concerning length of the blade permissible

  1. You dont need a holster to carry concealed in Florida and as a matter of fact if you want to be technical about it the only way you need one is if you carry outside on your person such as your hip wich by the way is legal. The blade leangth on any blade is 4inch but then again I was a Fed when I was in Florida and I left in 01 so some counties could have there own ordaninces. Try calling the licence department at you local sheriffs or PD. the officer who is in charge of the paper work for the permits can give you the law according to where you are of cite you the state madate for the items.

  2. Carrying without a holster is dangerous and you should not do it.  Holsters naturally protect the firearm and protect the trigger avoiding accidental discharges.  Usually switchblade falls under the category of weapon.  Switchblades automatically fall under the category of a weapon as do nightsticks, regular knives over 2 or 3 inches depending on the state.  Weapons  permits cover the items that fall into weapons category.

  3. Your concealed carry instructor should be able to tell you if you need a holster or not.

The restrictions on the length of a blade may vary by city.  Try looking it up for the city you live in, because they're who you're most likely to have to deal with.

I'd rather carry a kubotan than a switchblade...more reliable and not too easily recognized.
