Concealer/Foundation Question?

Question

I don't use foundation and i know people say your concealer should be 1 or 2 shades lighter than your foundation for dark circles under the eye ect. Can I wear concealer without wearing foundation? Or should I wear foundation.& what exactly is foundation?

hahaha i know absolutely nothing about makeup!

Yes, you can wear concealer without foundation and vice versa.

CONCEALER:

For picking the right concealer,  make sure you pick the right consistency and color.

Consistency: If you are covering major under eye circles, test the concealer at the counter by applying it on a blue vein on the inside of your wrist. It should "cover" the appearance of the vein.

Color: Test the color by applying the area of your neck below your ear. The color should be a little lighter than your foundation (but you're not using any). However, if you go too light, you risk looking like a raccoon. You may need a lighter concealer shade in winter than you would in summer.

When applying, make sure you use your ring finger or a fine brush. Apply in the inner corners of the nose by the eyes and only the areas under the eyes that are dark.

FOUNDATION:

Foundation is a type of makeup used on the face to even skin tone, hide blemishes, and emit a healthy glow.  Two things are vitally important in picking the right foundation: color and skin type.

Color: It is very important to match the foundation color to your face. Just going to the store and putting the bottle next to your face isn't good enough. Go to the makeup counter (without wearing foundation) and test the color on your face. Again, testing it on your wrist or arm is not good enough.

Skin type: Make sure you pick a foundation right for your skin type. If you have oily skin, look for foundations that say "oil free" or "oil control". Dry skin, look for "moisturizing" or "hydrating" on the product.

For girls and younger women, powder foundation could be appropriate. Some prefer powder foundation for the summer because it is light and easy to apply.

When applying liquid foundation, make sure you are blending it out (i.e. the center to the side of your face) from you cheeks, forehead, and chin with two fingers, a foundation sponge, or a brush. It should blend away as you get toward the sides of your face.

Make sure you apply loose powder immediately after you apply the liquid foundation.

you can definitely wear concealer without foundation.. although it tends to look better with it, you dont need it.

yes, you can use concealer without wearing makeup.

you can use concealor by itself but unless it perfectly matches your skin tone, itll look fake. if you dont like foundation then start with a tinted moisturizer. i like to use mac studio fix fluid and cliniques dramatically different moisturizer and mixing it so that i can control the coverage. foundation helps even out your skin tone and creates a canvas for other makeup products. if you use the foundation by itself, it can act as concealer also. if you use foundation by itself, you may not have to use concealer. concealer is just like foundation but it is usually thicker in consistency and works where foundation doesnt have enough coverage. if your dark circles are super dark , then the concealer should be no lighter that 2 shades of your skin tone. go to a counter at the department stores or sephora or ulta to  have a professional find your shades. be sure to ask lots of questions.
