  1. I also have the same problem with focusing, and my biggest problem is the internet.  I always procrastinate and would just tell myself "okay, maybe I'll just check my mail really quick", but once i get on the computer, I end up sitting there for hours.

I will also be a junior in high school this upcoming year.  I'm taking honor and AP classes and I can't afford to get anymore C's this year.  I'm aiming for all A's and possibly a couple B's here and there.  Long story short, last year was my first year taking AP and I slacked off A LOT because of the computer.  I would be on it till 3 am in the morning, wake up at around 6 am, meaning I only had 3 hours of sleep.  When I come home from school which is around 3pm, I would sleep for hours and not do my work till the last minute (which obviously isn't enough time).  My grades would keep on changing throughout the year because of my laziness.

With all that being said, I think the biggest problems for teens these days is the internet (myspace).  You should set aside your computer and promise to yourself that you would only go on once a week.  Yes, I know, very hard, but that is what I'm planning to do this year.  Good luck with everything.  =)

  4. are you in love?

  5. Write it out first and then type it

  7. maybe it's because you are getting tempted by going on the computer. if you do your homework on the computer then have someone with you to make sure that you don't go on any websites that don't involvi your homework until you are done. if it's in school then try to really focus.

  8. I think you are perfectly normal for feeling this way. I can remember feeling this way in my junior year. Here are some tips...

    1. Keep your distractions outside of school to a minimum. Boyfriends, friends, and extra-curriculars are hard on your studies. They are important for your development as a young woman, but just make sure they do not come before your schoolwork.

    2. If you are sitting down to do homework, do all of your homework that you can without a computer first. Then, you won't be as tempted to zip on over to myspace to check out what your friends are doing.

    3. Speaking of friends... studying with friends can be so helpful. If you and your friends can study without talking off topic, you could get your work done even faster.

    4. Find a new place to study. Go to a different room in your house, a friends house, your school, or the library. The library can be especially helpful because chances are that most of the other people there are doing the same thing you are.

    5. Give yourself a time limit. This wouldn't work for me, but if you can, set a timer and allow yourself 5-10 minutes to read your messages on myspace before you dig into your schoolwork. Then, when the time goes off...LOG OUT! :) After and hour or so of school work, set the time again to give yourself a little reward.

  9. First, get rid of your computer. Especially put it in the living room, somewhere out of your room. Next eat apples as a substitute of coffee. It does not have any caffeine and keeps you awake. Now, try studying with a friend or sibling. Hope I helped.

  10. Study in a place where distractions are kept to a minimum. Go to the library but do not get on the computers. You can study there where it is quiet and no one will bother you.

  11. its because you are getting bored easily, especially a summer reading essay! its summer so like your gonna definitely not want to do it....you have to basically push yourself ask yourself what  is more important focusing on school or myspace? myspace isnt going anywhere..

  12. marijuana works for me.

  13. * make up a study schedule

    * study in a quiet place

    * Turn off any possible disstractions (phone, computer, etc.)

    * get help from a smart friend

    * think about the bad things of failing

    hope this helps =)

  14. write it out, proof read it, correct your mistakes then. study in a quiet place and in a different place every time, don't daydream about boys and study away from the computer i went back to school at 46 and I have a really hard time concentrating but I'm doing it

  15. I had that problem.  I didn't really do much homework my senior year at all.  My junior year, I would hurry and finish through all my homework then waste time, or I would multitask and hurry and finish everything up late at night.  Nobody likes homework, but the people that pass fight through it cuz highschool is a lot more important than you think.

  16. u might have developed ADD.

    id go to a psyke.

    and do what they say.

  17. There's no one-size-all approach to studying, but here are some things that help me:

    1) Figure out what your distractions are, and get away from them. For me, that's the internet. So I purposely study at a friend's house who doesn't have internet, or go to a cafe without wireless. Removing yourself from the temptation can really help.

    2) Study buddies. You don't have to be studying the same thing - just being in a room with someone else who is working hard makes it easier for you to work too. The trick is finding a friend who will work - not sit there talking to you. :-)

    3) Know that drastic changes won't stick - so instead of saying "I'll stop watching television and surfing MySpace!" say "Okay, I'll finish three chapters of this book before treating myself to half an hour on MySpace." then hold yourself to that.

    4) make small goals for yourself that you can accomplish. Give yourself small rewards for making these goals.

    5) Make a space in your room that is just for work. clear it off - don't talk on the phone there, don't surf the net there - make it a space just for work and do your work there.

    6) When it's really crunch time - sign off on Myspace! I mean, literally put up a note saying "I can't be on here until after finals! Call me if you want to talk to me- see you after finals!"  then stick to it. Really. Don't look, don't check for mail, nothing. :-)

    7) I sometimes create the mood in my room for studying: light instrumental music (I can't study to anything with words), lighting candles, small things to munch on, hot tea.

The important thing is to NOT procrastinate and NOT make excuses - if you're not focusing, you can't blame it all on the stuff around you. You can make it happen!

  18. Try not to open your PC for a while or just until you have finished your essay. Write your essay on a sheet of paper then transfer it later. Temptations are everywhere focus on what's more productive and important.
