Concentration camp records?

Looking for a great aunt Stella Zegota who was in a concentration camp as a lab rat. I don't know where the camp was and don't want to pay $19.95 to see a listing of people who where in concentration camps. Is this even possible or did the n**i's just record them with their numbers? p.s. She wasn't jewish but worked in a jewish house as a cook. -Thanks

  1. Here's some information for you:

    http://www.uwm.edu/~baugrud/helpfiles/co...

I'm not sure if it will help or not, but it's worth a look.

    Good luck!

  2. I found nobody w/ a Page of Testimony at http://yadvashem.org

But, when I searched the Holocaust Database at http://www.jewishgen.org , I found a Stanisl ZEGOTA (his first name would most likely have been Stanislaw).  He is listed in the Mathausen/Gusen Death Book.  He was born in Lipnica, Poland on 18 Feb. 1903 and died on 31 Dec. 1944 in Erholungsheim (Hartheim) .  His # at Mathausen was 2490 and at Gusen 20229.

The reason for his arrest is "schutz".  I looked it up in a German dictionary and it means 'protection'.

There are some comments, but I don't know the meaning "Y/36: Todesmonat schlecht leserlich".

Maybe he is related to your great aunt?

Also, in looking for information for you I found this site... http://www.holocaustforgotten.com/zegota...  Are you aware of the "Zegota"????  Fascinationg story...
