Concept of space and place?

Just wandering if anyone could help with a question about the concept of space and place? and how it applys to the internet? I know it has something to do with Local and the Global – Localism, Globalism and the Question of Place

it was originaly termed " cyber space " not sure if the term still exists and there was lots of fear of the decline of local society and culture as we all became members of the internet community , shaping a society therein . The fears spread to global shopping and its knock on effects to local , regional shopping and detrimental effects on the urban core  landscape ( decline of city centre shops etc. ) .

The space becomes global almost infinite with multi cutlural and local expressions , the place could possibly be defined in technical as it is dependant upon technical expertise behind the scenes creating billions of files and operating systems creating the space , time is an element that you could consider . EDIT - search "spatial entities" and GIS and spatial data , good luck I am baling out of this question ( head up backside )
