My child is 2 1/2 and has had the diarrhea off and on since June. June It looked like it had white rice size worms in it it was NOT worms. His white blood cell came back a little high in his stool. He has had off and on diarrhea since then some look mucusy. Two Fridays ago he had an episode that white watery substance came out followed by white foam. Since Thursday he has had diarrhea straight up to 15 times a day with bad cramping. I have taken him to his dr and er several times and they think it could be Toddlers diarrhea Yesterday we drove 4 hours to children's mercy hospital to see what they thought and they said they don't know but it fit Toddlers Diarrhea. My child's abdominal pain is getting worse ,crying shaking while going to the bathroom and stays up for hours in the middle of the night. My child is not dehydrated or loosing any weight. Please help any suggestions what’s wrong.

  1. You need to continue to take your child to the doctor, er and every hospital you can find until you find a doctor willing to listen. He should be admitted for tests. You cant be nice but you cant be hysterical and having fits either. You need to be assertive and demand answers. If one doc wont give you answers go to another. I had to do this with my oldest child. She has epilepsy with atypical grand mal seizures, she started having seizures at 3 hours old. It was documented by nurses in the hopital. It took 4 months to get a diagnosis.

  2. Take him back to the doctor and demand they do something.  I would NEVER let my own child be this sick for two months without being proactive!

Edit: I don't think yelling at people you've come to for help is going to fix anything.  You asked for opinions and I've given mine.

If they won't treat your child, sue them for malpractice.  That's ridiculous.

Try also the BRAT diet.  Banana, Rice, Applesauce, Toast.

  3. I am not buying this.  I have never heard of a condition called Toddler's Diarrhea nor would any hospital NOT admit a young child for a series of testing to see what is wrong with those serious symptoms.

  4. Go to a different pediatrician.  Also, give him Yogart.

  5. I would feed your child (only when he is hungry) very HIGH fiber foods, that means for instance, frosted mini wheats for breakfast with ONLY water to drink, until his movements become normal...dont feed him unless its time to eat and he is hungry though. Wheat breads for sandwiches instead of white, lots of vegetables, not too much fruit for now though because it has a heavy sugar content. My daughter went through this too, the doctor finally gave her a powder mix, (it was prescribed) that helped to pass the bowels, also they recommended this oil, I can't remember the name of it, I think its starts with a "C" though.

the condition exists,  just because we havent heard of something doesnt mean it isnt there.

i can buy that shes had the baby to the dr and they havent done anything, we have that kind of dr's here too, and it sucks, you cant get anything done.

im sorry  youre going through this, and i wish i could tell you what to do about it. thank god ive never had anything serious like this qwith my kids yet to have to take more drastic steps, ive just taken them to a different dr if the first one didnt help. but it sounds like you have exhausted all options, unless you go to a dr even further from home and try again,
