Concerned with cat. Help?

I have an 8 year old cat, she is neutered and declawed. 4 days ago I found a kitten in very poor condition. I think he might 3 months old, not neutered nor declawed.

If i neutered him at an early age will he lose interest in mating? do young cats mate with old cats?

will there be a conflict between my 8 year old female cat and the kitten in the future?

  1. first, a lesson in cat s*x.

cats have s*x with any other cat regardless of age. but, the cat has to be in heat, meaning ready for s*x.

the kitten will not mate with you cat because she has been spayed, which removes sexual organs so she no longer goes into heat. she might as well be a stuffed dog for all the new kitten cares. he will have no interest in  her.

if kitty if neutered, he cant have s*x. his sexual organs are removed, which tell him when a a cat is in heat.

therefore, get kitty neutered, and you will have no problems.

declawing does not remove the claws, it removes the toes. cats need claws for climbing, defense, stop from falling, grooming, holding things, , just about everything. if you want to detoe him, give him to a shelter.

  2. No, there shouldn't be a conflict as long as you get the cat neutered/declawed. I have a 6 year old cat, and I got a 1 year old female, and they have had no problem whatsoever.

  3. unlike humans, cats don't care whether a mate is old, young or in between - they will mate if not neutered or spayed.  Do not allow the new cat near the older one if it has not been vaccinated and checked for FHIV or Feline Leukemia - both can be transmitted to the older cat.  Please do not declaw the new cat - it is esentially taking off the first joint of the toes, and can cause permanent lameness.  Get the new kitten vaccinated and spayed/neutered before introducing it to the existing cat.  Do that slowly by allowing them to get to know each other through a closed door for a few days (after the shots!).  Good Luck.

  4. If the old one is playful, then maybe.Usually old cat's won't mind.

I don't think young cats mate with old cats. It's like a 1 yr old mating a 24 yr old.

Don't declaw your cat! It's cruel and you may get fined.

  5. Getting your cat neutered at a young age will insure that he will not think of anything connected with mating. If you decide he should not be neutered he will go after your other cat even though she has been spayed and this will cause a conflict between the two cats. If he is neutered he will get along with your other cat once they become friends.

  6. I have cats right now that all different ages...from 16 years down to 3 months old that are mine. I also have 2 six week old right now that my 16 male cat spends time with now and then. Just don't force them to be together and they will work it out on their own. Get the kitten fixed up and all should be fine. Good luck!
