Concerning viruses...?

I was booting up my computer when the backweb security popup came up. I said no to it, because it was probably a Trojan, and it started to not respond. I was like "EH?!" so I did end now.

Whatever the h**l that was. Can anybody tell me what Backweb is?

And another thing. I have two hpztsb09.exe running in the background. One is using around 35-48 cpu. What the h**l is that?!

Will spybot and AVG pick up these things?!

Thanks

  1. You really do not need any of these starting up

    with windows....disable from start/run/msconfig

This is what the two hpztsb09.exe are........

Hewlett Packard utility installed with HP Deskjet

printers to do maintenance tasks and diagnostics.

The backweb security popup in all probability

belongs to HP as well .....but maybe not....

From the backweb developer: Compaq, HP, McAffee, F-Secure, Western Digital, Logitech, Kodak and IBM are some of BackWeb´s customers. Each of these vendors bundles a customized BackWeb client into their products that are then shipped to their end users. These companies use the BackWeb client to distribute drivers, software updates, patches and critical information from a secure server at their site directly to their users' hard-drives

  2. I would suggest you check out some of these anti-virus and anti-spyware software programs along with a couple other recommended programs:

    -McAfee 12 in 1 Security Center (anti-virus)

or AVG if you want a free program

    -Spyware Doctor with AV (anti-spyware)

or Spybot S&D if you want a free program

    -PC Tools Firewall Plus(free) (firewall)

    -ThreatFire(free) (added virus protection)

-CCleaner(keep computer running pretty good, cleans up history and whatnot)

    -Firefox(safe browser)

All of the above programs(aside Spybot and AVG) I use and have been using for a very long time now, all with fantastic results. For AVG and Spybot they are both good in the way of free protection but McAfee and Spyware Doctor are recommended.

  3. Try avast. It is a very effective anti-virus program.

  4. AVG is pretty weak, I am going to say get real paid for anti virus and see the difference that will make. I recommend Avira premium

  5. hpztsb09.exe is probably related to an HP Printer icon in the systray. I'm not sure why two are running.

My hpztsb04 is using 4816k of memory and no cpu at the moment. It is for the HP toolbox in the tray
