well im 15 years old, and do not get me wrong, I DO NOT WANT A BABY for at least another 8 years, but i cant help but wonder if im infertile. i would like to have the option of having children, but when i took birth control i took it for about 3 months and then just stopped in the middle of one of the cycles (as in i stopped taking them randomly, i did NOT complete one of the packages and THEN stop) is there any way that could cause me to be infertile? and what are some things that help keep your body healthy in case you ever did want to have a baby? things that cause infertility?

  1. okay, first off, you're fifteen years old.

that means your periods are still irregular - most women don't settle into a regular period until late teens or even their 20s.  it all depends on their hormones and lifestyle.

stopping the pill in the middle of a cycle won't do anything except cause a momentary hiccup in your hormones.

things you should do - and bless you for even thinking of it, your baby will be AMAZING if you follow through! - include the following:

    1.  maintain a healthy weight.  this does not mean follow a chart slavishly, it means keep your weight where you have lots of muscle to get work done and to burn off calories but you also have enough body fat to keep your hormones regular (estrogen is stored in body fat, which is why very overfat women tend to suffer from conditions like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome - PCOS - and why overfat men tend to look and sound very feminine).  isntead of burning your brain with weights and measurements, just go by your abs.  look at halle berry's abs in that james bond movie:  her abs were visible as a nice "v" shape but there was no hint of a six-pack (my opinion, even as a former bodybuilder and powerlifter is that a six-pack is gross on a female).

    2.  FOLIC ACID!!!!  lots and lots of folic acid - this is critical to preventing neural tube defect like hare lip/cleft palate (and those who want to rant at me for being unPC can bin it, because i live with it and can call it what i want), spina bifida, and anencephaly (part of the brain doesn't develop and the baby is nothing more than a vegetable).

    3.  be active!  make being active a part of every day - run, jog, swim, bike, dance, whatever you want.  this will not only make it easier to conceive (cause you'll look and feel fantastic) but it will make your pregnancy easier (cause you'll look and feel better than someone who gestates on the couch in front of jerry springer) and after the baby is born, you'll be a totally bomb mother because you'll be fun to be with and you'll be able to keep up with the little urchin.

    4.  eat a balanced diet - all food groups, ignore the fad diets that would have you skip carbs or skip fat or whatever.

    5.  avoid chemicals as much as possible - artificial colours, flavours, and sweeteners are being linked mroe and more to problems in children.

oosp - brb - baby crying

    back - where was i?

    6.  take a good-quality multivitamin/mineral supplement, esp one with iron.  too many women are anaemic and don't even know it.  this impacts on your entire body system.

    7.  make up your mind to breastfeed - having a healthy body will produce a healthy newborn, but it's breastfeeding that creates a little people from that squalling little blanket-wrapped bean.  breastmilk contains antibodies (cause babies don't have immune systems that function very well), compounds that develop the brain and IQ, and even stem cells that actually direct the baby's development.  it's a proven fact that breastfed babies are, on average, up to 10 IQ points higher than formula-fed.  this doesn't mean breastfeeding makes babies smart - it means feeding babies an inferior diet prevents them from reaching their full potential.

    7.  make sure you pick the baby's daddy wisely.  i'm not talking about the father - any man can be a sperm donor - i'm talking about the child's male role model in life, hopefully your husband.  the trick to it is to pick a man that treats you the way you want your daughter to be treated by her husband because that's what happens - kids pick spouses based on their parents.  my own relationship was becoming seriously abusive and it wasn't until i asked him "what would you do if our daughter came to our house in tears and said her boyfriend was acting toward her the way you're acting toward me?  and how old will she be when you start treating her the same way you treat me?   because that's what will happen!".  he didn't believe me until we saw it on oprah and then not a week later on dr phil (a man was nailed for calling his 4yr old daughter a 'f--g b--h':  he said he didn't mean it, it was just because she was acting like her mother).

so pick someone who is in good health to be the father - but if you can get someone in good health who is also a genuinely caring, nurturing man, stick to him like krazy glue and make sure you be the woman he wants to keep and you'll have a family that'll make the cleavers jealous.

  2. I doubt that stopping the pill will make you infertile, in fact most people who have trouble conceiving stop taking the pill and get pregnant right away.

When you are ready to have kids, contact your gynecologist and he or she will run some tests on you to determine if you are fertile and healthy enough to have kids.

  3. I dont think the pill can make you infertile. To give your body the best chance of staying healthy and fertile is to eat a balanced diet with lots of fruit and veg. Also, dont have unprotected s*x cos some STD's can make you infertile. And dont skip any smear test appointments.

Infertility is a big worry for women (and men) these days, I understand your concerns.

    xx

  4. your not infertile! getting off the pill will just cause your periods to be irregular for a little while, you may get your period one month, and not the next.

  5. No, If you are perhaps infertile it wouldn't be due to the b/c. Skipping the pill & going off & on them WILL cause period changes!! Good LUCK!

  6. No, you'll be fine. Taking the pill and stopping it early will make your cycles a little different for a month or so (maybe) but they won't cause infertility. No way. The pill simply changes the balance of hormones in your body to discourage pregnancy. They're pretty effective, but as soon as you stop taking them, your body readjusts very quickly and you'll be back to the normal hormonal levels within a few weeks. Your body simply reconfigures itself back to the way it was before; no harm done!
