I'm 14 and going to be a freshman. I recentally went to a concert in a city a couple hours away. It was amazing! We got home late. Maybe 3? I don't remember. I slept the entire way home.

Anyway. I just found out that my favorite band is playing the same club in 2 months or so. I really want to go. My friends are going to get one of their parents to take us up there and then we'll all go together. But sadly, it's a Sunday Night. I'm a PERFECT straight A student. But my parents won't let me... The thing is that we'd get home at 3... but I'd have slept since midnight on the way home in the car. I could TOTALLY wake up at 6 and get my but to classes. Even if I'm a little tired. And if I was tired... One day isn't going to make much of a difference. Especially if I know ahead of time. So I can talk to teachers and such.

I think my parents are being unreasonable. All of my friends parents say it's alright. My brother has even been allowed to miss days at a time from school. I don't think it's fair but they won't budge.

I'm hoping that your answers will help convince them??? Any ideas to help me get them to agree??? Or am I being unreasonable?

  1. You remind me of myself!

I am 19 now, but I had the same fights when my parents all the time!

They should trust you. You have a great argument going- and you seem very responsible.  In high school I never missed a show! Even now that I am in college I still travel all over.  If it's something you love to do- your parents should understand and allow you to do it.

If you went to the show and missed school or stayed home the next day- then you know they would never let you go again. So of course you'll be getting up to go to school!

I go to school an hour and a half away from my home city.  I came home for the weekend, went back to school for class monday- took a bus home for a concert monday night- and went back to school the next morning on a bus. I missed no classes- and I made such good memories!

Your friends are going and their parents are driving- there are no worries to be had.  I remember every show my mom kept me from seeing...it honestly angers me. I hope they change their minds.  It's a freedom you deserve to have. Tell them what you have told us.

    Good luck with everything!

  2. Honestly your never gonna convince them. Just sneak out and hey they'll never know. that's what i do. but if your really such a goody goody like you sound throw that straight a thing in there face and say you need to blow off some steam from all the hard work you've been doing.

  3. My parents would let me go to concerts on school nights. We wouldn't get home until around 2 and I had to be up by 6. I was a little older though, 16 and 17. I think it would be fine, but it really is their choice. I hope they let you go, because it is so awesome to see your fav band. Who is it btw?

  4. Well since your such a PERFECT straight A student I'm sure your smart enough to figure it out...
