Concordia University in Montreal?

Question

I'm a college student from the U.S. and am thinking of transfering to Concordia University in Montreal for the upcoming semester. For those who have been to the school or are familiar with this part of Montreal, would you say that this is a good school to attend (nice people, good academics, etc.)? I've already been in contact with the university but would personally like to hear from people who have attended the school or are from the area.

Any information at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It is a well-known school, and sure you might find a successful academic career there, but it will be tough to find a job there, so think about learning French and being totally fluent in French if you decide to go there.  You can have the best English in the world there, yet if you do know the French language, you will have a very tough time securing work to match the calibre of your education!

I don't personally study in university in montreal, but the two english ones (mcgill and concordia) are well known, one of the best in canada, and are strong academically. the people are very nice, and every time i go downtown i'm always surprised by what a good city it is to study in. also, the tuition fees are low compared to other places.

Unlike in the US, most Canadian schools are "good" and, in general, no one school is better than another, at least in terms of undergraduate academics. Concordia is a reputable school -- at least in Canada. (You may get blank stares from people if you mention the school to your American friends.) In particular, its business school and fine arts programs are quite good. It is also a very diverse school in terms of its students, reflecting the cultural diversity of the city in general. Although I didn't go to Concordia myself, I've found their students to be generally nice, probably more so than the "other" English school in town. But, Concordia is largely a commuter school so you might find it difficult to meet people as the vast majority of students are from the area and commute to and from their homes in the suburbs. Also, most of these students already have friends from high school and CEGEP, so you might find the environment a little cliquey, since people are going into university with their groups of friends already in place.

I graduated from Concordia University.. Its a great school.. and Montreal is a beautiful city.. and you will have so much fun in there.. I have known a lot of my friends or other ppls got great job after finished university..

It is a good school. But remember it all depends on what you are studying. Both English-speaking universities in Montreal (Concordia and McGill) are in downtown. People are really nice around here. I cannot be very specific because I study at UQAM, but I'm sure you'll get more answers. Cheers!
