Question:

Concrete Waste?

I'm thinking about putting an ad in the paper listing that I will accept concrete waste. That saves the guys from having to pay to dispose of it and it will give me some good base for a driveway I think.

I've heard that concrete waste packs better than crush and run.

Anyone know if this is true?

Also, what size concrete and asphalt waste should I specify that I am accepting?

  1. excellent for a big/solid base...also if there's any steel mills around you, you can usually find pig iron scraps for next to nothing, practically for the carrying away!...I had a driveway packed with it and nearly broke my arms/back for two hours.. trying to get a hole big enough to put up a basketball pole! it works alright...and I'd still go with the crush and run for a final coating especially with a good amount of dust..it'll set up almost like concrete too.

  2. 2 minus

  3. I have never used it for that, but the concept sounds about right to me! You can also call up contractors or place an ad on craigslist.org for it. You should ask for 3,000 psi concrete waste or higher don't go higher than 4,000 psi(if you have a truck) It is the best grade for driveways. Good luck, and great job on being green! You may ask your local community office if that gives you a tax break as well, because you went "green" on your driveway
