Question:

Concrete countertop Help!?

It is my first concrete countertop, I have very little equipment. I have a couple of good books but I'm having a hard time finding proper instructions for sanding down the top to expose the aggrigate. I don't have a diamond pad, I do out a orbital sander and a grinder, I have regular sanding blocks for wood. I need to know what grit to use too, I don't want to spend the next week sanding by hand but I will if thats what I have to do. Any suggestions? Oh, by the way, I used a mold, and it is a very tiny bathroom vanity, just a 22x31 in, something like that. Thanks.

  1. I would try the grinder using a carbide cutoff wheel. I think using the wheel like a sanding pad would give you a fine polished surface. Lastly a fine wet dry sandpaper just before polishing with a grinding compound.

If you can send me a pic, I would appreciate it. I am thinking of doing the same thing in a large kitchen.

  2. check out concretenetwork.com  they have a great informative section on concrete countertops
