why and how does concrete, creep, shrink and get fatigue?????

  1. CREEP:

    Because once load is applied for long time, initially some molecular joints rearrange and load redistributes instantaneously then gradually with time other bonds rearrange/breaks and overall displacement increases called creeping.

    SHRINK:

    After pouring of concrete as it drys with time the concrete pores filled with water gel of Calcium silicate dries and its volume reduce thus overall concrete volume reduces called shrinking.

    FATIGUE:

    Loading concrete produce micro-cracks which are unrecoverable after unloading. Loading again will cause new micro-cracks as well as increase size of previous cracks. Thus this loading and unloading will reduce strength on every cycle and eventually premature failure called fatigue.
