Concussion: Cleveland Browns confirm QB Brandon Weeden to start versus Oakland Raiders – NFL News
The Cleveland Browns have confirmed quarterback Brandon Weeden is all right from a concussion injury and will come back to start for them in the next game this Sunday (Dec.02).
Weeden suffered a head injury into closing minutes of the Pittsburgh Steelers game on past Sunday November 25 and there was uncertainty if he would be able to recover by the next game.
Now the player and team confirmed that he has been cleared for practice, which has happened exactly three days after he got the injury – the first concussion of his career.
He returned to practice on Wednesday but was kept limited in the workout. He is expected to participate in full practice on Friday when the team returns to practice again. The QB is due to start versus the Oakland Raiders on a road game.
The rookie QB was replaced by backup QB Colt McCoy for remaining time of the Steelers game last weekend but he did not have to throw ball for the pass before the game was over. The Browns won the game, which was their second victory versus the Steelers in
history of 18 games played between the two sides.
Weeden while working on his recovery from the concussion has talked about sensitivity of the injury and that how can the risk of suffering from it can be eliminated.
The offence leader said:
"You just have to be honest. There are several steps you've got to work out. You've got to run, you've got to do some tests, you've got to do some things. There's a long laundry list of things you've got to do, but the main thing is just be honest and tell
them what your symptoms are and tell them how you feel. You have to pass the test with flying colours."
He added:
“You've got to be smart about it. You're talking about a brain. I don't want to be 50 years old and not remember playing in the NFL.”
The Browns are at bottom of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division with three wins on board, and with five more games to play they must be looking for another couple of victories to end the season on a note they have been doing every year,
for last five-six years.
