Concussion: Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano confirms WR Austin Collie's return – NFL News
Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano has confirmed availability of wide receiver Austin Collie from the next game after doctors cleared him for practice and training a day earlier.
This comes as a good development for Austin who was fearful about the football prospects last week as a result of the latest concussion, which happens to be the third head injury he has suffered since November 2010.
Although the receiver had been a part of the side during training and practice in the week leading up to the start of the season, he could not made it to the game against the Chicago Bears on past Sunday because of some lingering concussion symptoms. He
had suffered the injury just before the start of preseason on August 19.
After spending the first game on the sidelines now the doctors have given him go-ahead once again, and coach Chuck is hopeful of his fitness and form chances more than he was in the past week.
Chuck also confirmed that the player will be joining for practice this week, and although the coach did not confirm it officially, he is most likely to join the squad in the next game.
It has happened for the player quickly as he had spoken of his fears about successive concussion injuries and their possible impact on his career last week. He looked very much disappointed, which could be down on the fact that the league has already been
hit with unfortunate developments concerning concussions, stemming from negative outfalls of the head injuries.
With Collie back in the side, the offensive situation of the team is expected to improve, after the group looked struggling to click to form and rhythm in the opening game, and quarterback Andrew Luck seemed affected by some of common mistakes on the receiving
end of his throws.
It should be the good news for the team in the longer run if Collie is able to sustain pressure on the field, and especially avoids suffering the same injury again.
Being placed in the centre of the field, the receiver is prone to rough hits and injuries, and with coach ruling out a consideration for a change in the player’s position, he should find a way to tackle the problem on his own.
