me and my current gf have recently started having s*x, using condoms as the only form of birth control. my last gf was in the pill so this wasn't really a big issue. well i don't really trust condoms a whole lot cuz i have had them break. we're both seniors in college right now and the last thing either of us want is to be parents. my gf isn't really into the pill. will condoms be good enough? if one breaks, we'll go with plan B.

  1. Condoms used properly are a good form of birth control.  My concern for you is a previous question says you had your first date 3 weeks ago.  You don't know her well enough to know she will take plan b.

I have been with my husband nearly 15 years. For the past 12 we have only used condoms. All of our children were planned.

  2. If you go to the drug store, they have other options you can use along with condoms for some extra safety!   Contraceptive films, extra spermicide... etc...

  3. They don't break spontaneously.

Condoms usually fail when people aren't careful enough or aren't using them correctly.

So long as you are being careful (i.e. avoiding long fingernails, checking them beforehand) and using condoms correctly every single time then condoms are practically the best form of contraception.

  4. When used properly, condoms can prevent pregnancy without breaking. Since you are concerned mostly about birth control, also considering using a condom with a spermicidal to kill any sperm. Remember, condoms do not protect from Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD)

  5. I am guessing plan b will be figuring out how to raise a baby when you weren't responsible enough. I think most people will miss this. You are both sabotaging this relationship. It sounds like one or both of you want a child. If she knows you are breaking condoms and she isn't doing anything else to prevent it---she is going to end up pregnant! If you are using condoms and they keep breaking and you know she is not doing anything else to prevent it, --you are going to be a father! You need to find someone who knows how to use a condom. My guess is you are not putting them on correctly, whether you just don't know how --or you are doing it on purpose. Seek help! Neither one of you are ready for parenting!

    Good Luck!!!!
