I'll be traveling to Budapest, Prague, Bratislava for 3 weeks in September. Anyone have good or bad experiences about condo rental in these cities? What areas in each city are best? what rates should I expect?

I had a great experience last year in a condo in Krakow, 1 block from the Market square, and I'd love to replicate this in Budapest, Prague, Bratislava.

  1. I just had a GREAT experience renting a place in Budapest.  The website for the apartments is:  http://www.budapest.hoteltargets.com/  The guy who owns these 3 apartments (Tomas) is an artist in Budapest.  He met with us on our first day and asked what we were interested in doing on our visit, marked places on a map for us, really all around top notch.  The location was perfect (We were at the "deluxe" apartment, which was right near a tram line that got us EVERYWHERE in town.)  It was an incredible experience.  I would absolutely rent from this guy again.  The rates are reasonable, he is SO helpful with everything, and the locations are all perfect.  I really felt like I got the true Budapest experience, and more than just a tourists outsider glance of the city.

  2. In Budapest, the closer to the Duna (preferrably at the Chain bridge) you are, the better.  The "Buda" part of the city is also a bit more historical than the "Pest" side, but if you are right downtown, it doesn't matter which side you are on.  Budapest has come a long way and you will surely find it to be on par with Krakow...
