Conecting to Xbox live?!?!?

ok i dont much have wireless conecction i have a diall up connection (its a verizon connection) so yesterday i connected and plugged it in the the xbox and it wrkt perfectly but today its totally not wrking is their anyone out their that is using vz acces to connect to xbox live ?!?!? and if other ppl just know how answer plz

do you have the xbox live ethernet cable? If you have it, plug one end of the 360 or regular xbox, plug the other end into the router or modem you have, if you dont have a router or modem, i dont know what do say.  

Note: Make sure both ends of the cable are free of dust or other nasty stuff.
