Coneygree likely to have a bright future in Horseracing
Coneygree is definitely going to have a bright future in Horseracing, as he has been competitive in Graded events for his team during the 2012 season. He is loaded with immense talent and is a perfect jumper, which makes him a potent force in races over
hurdles.
The five-year-old gelding made his seasonal debut in November 2011 and was up against some very good runners back then. He was priced 10 to 1 by the bookies and was expected to fight for the top-five positions.
However, the young challenger did not feel any pressure and delivered a top class result for his team in the end. He started off steadily and stayed in the hunt for quite some time. Once he pressed hard, no one was able to match his speed, as he cleared
away to the top of the table by 3¾ lengths.
This successful start would have given immense confidence to the Mark Bradstock’s trainee, but he did not appear in any more races during 2011. He waited until February next year, but the return did not prove to be a good one for him.
He was sent into a class-1 competition and the pressure ended up being too much for him. He was unable to match the skills of his rivals and had to settle for eighth place overall.
Karinga Bay’s son was then held back for more training and did not compete in any race until November 2012. He came back in a class-4 encounter, so the pressure was less on him that time around.
Although, he was not rated as the favourite to succeed, he did not have any issues and secured the top spot by a staggering margin of 20 lengths. No one was able to come closer to him and he finally got the confidence to compete in some bigger events.
Therefore, The Max Partnership’s owned runner was sent into a couple of back-to-back Grade 2 contests, where he delivered thumping performances. He won both the races comfortably and sent a strong message to his future opponents.
Coneygree has been accompanied by young jockey, Mattie Batchelor, from the start of his career and the partnership has really worked out well until now. They will definitely aim to battle at the highest level in the coming years in order to make a name for
themselves.
