Confident Saina Nehwal ready to shine at Indonesia Open after proving her class in Thailand
India’s in-form shuttler Saina Nehwal, who has recently won the Women’s Singles title at the 2012 Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold, is ready to shine at the upcoming Indonesia Open Premier Super Series which will take place at Jakarta, Indonesia, from June
12-17.
The in-form Saina, who is currently number five in Women’s Singles world placements, is confident to put up good show in Indonesian Open and is ready to take all top shuttlers from China who gave Thailand Open a miss.
In the final of Thailand Open, Saina overpowered the local shuttler and World Number 11 Ratchanok Inthanon in a thrilling contest that took three games of top class badminton.
During her title hunt in Bangkok, Saina did not face any Chinese shuttler in her way as all top Chinese females skipped the tournament and will participate in Indonesian Open.
The 22-year-old Saina is fully aware that it will be an uphill task to win the title at Indonesia Open where all top shuttlers of the world will compete for glory.
While talking about her performance and deficiencies in her play during Thailand Open, Saina said that there are certain areas that require improvement.
The Indian shuttler also said that Indonesia Open will be a tough task as all top shuttlers from China will be there.
She said, "No player is perfect so there are some areas where I have to work on but the next event is just a few days away, so can't do much about it. Indonesia would be very tough. I am leaving for Indonesia tomorrow and my matches start from Wednesday."
Saina further added, "I won't get much time to acclimatise but it depends on that particular day and how you are feeling. I can't promise a title but I can promise to give my best."
In the opening round of Indonesian Open, Saina has a tricky match against Japan’s Sayaka Sato. However, the Indian lady is confident to continue her winning performance and live up to the expectations as she is in good shape and has found a good flow ahead
of Olympic Games.
