Father of the tainted Indian player, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rahul-Sharma-c83352, says that he is confident that his son is not involved in the drug scandal, despite the police testing the 25-year-old spinner positive of consumption of drugs following a raid on a rave party in May in Mumbai.
"Rahul is not a party boy. He had no knowledge of the rave party. He was given to understand by his team manager that they would be attending a birthday party of some friend and so he went there,” said Rahul’s father Pradeep, who is an assistant sub-inspector from Jalandhar.
“The family was nervous initially when the report was first announced, but now we are confidant Rahul is not involved in this scandal. I have spoken to Rahul three-four times. The bowling duo was tested for Cannabis and Ecstasy, though the police have not disclosed the nature of the results. If the players are punished according to the Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985, the fine could go up to RS.10, 000, along with a jail time of six months. This however, would be under the Indian legal system where the convicted individuals will have a further right to appeal.
Rahul’s coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vikram-Rathour-c95270, has stated that it was hard for him to believe the news, considering that the spinner does not consume alcohol. The 25-year-old had earlier promised to leave cricket if he had tested positive.
