Conflict of interest between lane bryant and american eagle?

I have been working for Lane Bryant(plus-size store) since the first week of May. I was just offered a job at American Eagle and would like to work there but when I asked my manager at Lane Bryant she said there was a conflict of interest if I worked both jobs. Then she said that I could not work at any retail store that sells the items that Lane Bryant does, like Wal*Mart, Ann Taylor, Belks etc. Is there really a conflict of interest between the two stores?

  1. its probably just an excuse. i bet she just doesn't think you can handle working two jobs.

  2. It is a conflict of interest, because you're working in the same field.

  3. u might have signed something when u were hired, ask ur boss if u signed a contract to that effect, if not then take the job and don't listen to her it's none of her business as long as u can handle both jobs and they can work around ur hours at lane bryant or see if u can just get more hours at lane bryant. I know that When I worked for an income tax place, I had to sign a contract stating that I could not work for any other tax place for up to two years after I quit and My boss could have sued me for violation of my contract. good luck!!
