Conflict with Extraterrestrial race?

Question

First off, I know alien invasion is a bunch of BS. I know hundreds of reasons why they would not invade. Its just a way to get people to buy movies for entertainment. And people who claim they have been "abducted" is a bunch of BS. I know the reasons about that stuff.

This is what I am trying to ask. If we can't settle our problems with our fellow humans, and it ends up in war, what will happen if we meet another race? I am not talking invasion. I am saying if we survive long enough to colonize planets, and we meet another race, could it end up in war over a disagreement? I know they might win, or we win, due to which race has better technology. And it seems that violence is the best and only way to solve our problems unfourtantly. Basically, what do you think will happen when we meet another race?

Ps. Independence day, war of the worlds, and signs are all BS and suck.

I think Star Trek is realistic. They have wars as well as coalitions and space is organized into quadrants.

It's probable to certain that an alien race will have incompatible DNA. So, no eating the humans or stealing their women.One problem meeting an alien race would be being able to recognize it.

The second problem is distance. While "Star Trek" makes interstellar travel look easy the travel time, supplies required, and fuel needed would be enormous. That also knocks out most of the alien abduction stories. After years (hundreds? Thousands?) of travel aliens are going to sneak around sticking needles in people?

Most science fiction focus is on "what if" and needs human interaction to work. True aliens wouldn't provide the conflict. One writer had a two deminsional being living on a heavy gravity world. What kind of conflict would we have with that?

We are a carbon based life form. However silicon would also work. Imagine use meeting a silicon based life form. Would we even have anything in common?
