I have the following:

Internet=>Proxy Server=>Cisco

Switch=>LinksysSwitch

=>myPC.

and I want to replace LinksysSwitch with a wireless router. My IE has a proxy setup, my proxy has my MAC address added.

how do I setup a router to work with my Proxy Server:

Internet=>Proxy Server=>

Cisco Switch=>Router=>My PC.

When I look at the setup of the router under WAN, I am not sure which to pick for static IP?, Dynamic IP?

What sould I change in the router to get it working with the Proxy Server?

Thanks

  1. Assign your router an IP address and turn off the routing functions, it's not needed as you are not routing to another network, it will just act as another switch on your network.

  2. Hi

    I'm afraid more information is required.

    But first, why are you putting a switch BEFORE a router?

    You should really have the router connected to your ISP via cable or a broadband modem, than a switch (if you really need one) after the router.

    The router will normally have to be configured to talk to your ISP, but in your case it would be your Proxy server.  That will be the Fixed IP you need.
