I was using a different ftp program to upload my website files today, and I guess it uploaded them to the address without the www. The menu I made for the website has the www in it. When I went to the page with the www, it had the old info on it. It took a few minutes before it updated to what is uploaded to the url with no www. Does this make any sense?

  1. www.domain.com and domain.com will normally resolve to the same IP address. Most webhosts have www set as a cname for the domain.com, so they are effectively identical. If you can upload information to one and not see it at the other, then that means you need to correct your DNS zone to have a www cname point to your domain.com. It is also possible that the www.domain.com has a separate vhost set up, but this isn't very likely. If you have recently changed your DNS information, then it is possible that it hasn't finished propagating (www.domain.com and domain.com must propagate separately as they are technically different host names)

  2. when using ftp, you don't use www

Also, the problem could be that your dns records don't have an "A" record with the ip address of the actual site's location

  3. Upload to the Public_HTML directory.

I don't really understand what your saying.
