Confused about american schools????

I live in england and have a completely different school system to america. I don't know the proper ages and it gets really confusing so could some one tell me the ages for elementary/middle/high school, and for grades etc............in england it's nursery at three, primary school at 4 and you work your way up to year 6, then it's year 7 at 11 and you go up to year 11. You can finish at 16 or go onto college or 6 th form till your 18 and then uni. How does that compare to American schools?? Thanks =]

  1. preschool- optional

    kindergarten- 5

    students finish elementary or primary school at age 12

    do middle school for usually two years

    and then highschool or secondary school for 4 years

    then college

    1 - 6-7

    4 -9-10

    5 -10-11

    6 -11-12

    7 -12-13

    8 -13-14

    Highschool

    9- 14-15

    10 -15-16

    11 -16-17

    12 -17-18
