Confused about childcare and going back to college?

went to college after i had my son and i left last year when i had my daughter. now the new term is starting i decided to go back and get the other half of my a-levels. my son is three and my daughter is almost 1. i know that children at 3 can have 12.5 hours a week free education or something bt i dont really understand what that is. there is a day care place very near me which is where my son went before so i was going to put them back in there while i was at college, only part time. i on income suport and child tax credits and i know i can get help with my childcare fees but im confused about that too. does anyone know how to help me?

both me and my wife are in college and we have a 2 year old. we heard about daycare assistance so we call the college and they said it would easier for a single mom or a couple like us to get it. so we got the paper work and filled it out before the semester, the only thing is you get assistance for what time you already have them in daycare for so she needed to be in daycare first to get it. i hope that helps
