Ok, so my cycles have always been very irregular. When I was more overweight, I would sometimes go 2-4 months without one! I lost weight and in the past year they have been about 30-50 days apart. My most recent being 47. However, I got pregnant!

So heres my question, do you think I could have ovulated later? My last period began on May 11th. I am wondering if I may have concieved like May 29th-30th because I experienced what I believe was implantation bleeding about 10 days after that. Tan colored mucusy stuff for a day. Right when I got my first faint line.

I was told my hormone levels are very low on Saturday, 214, at the ER when they found a cyst on left ovary. They said I could have ectopic pregnancy or blighted ovum, im very scared. But if I ovulated later then that would change my hormone levels right? Wouldn't they still be very low? The lines on the pregnancy tests are getting darker every day. I have to wait until Thursday to test again per my midwife.

  1. the home pregnancy test can only tell you yes or no - not how much.  really, nobody can tell you anything one way or another.

the only way to really know is to take a look with an ultrasound.

fwiw, 1 in 4 pregnancies overall naturally terminate in the first six weeks - that's just what happens.  we weren't meant to know about it except for these stupid home tests.

  2. If they are under the impression you have a more average cycle length (like 28-32 days long) then they could believe that conception took place much earlier than it actually did.  It is a very good sign that the line on the test gets darker with each test, and if you aren't having any pain that is also a good sign that you're not having an ectopic pregnancy.

My advice:  take care of yourself and follow your midwife's advice.  If (when) they find this is a viable pregnancy (meaning no ectopic or anything) then ask about an early ultrasound to help date your pregnancy.  make sure you're very clear about how irregular your periods have been and how that makes you unsure of when conception could have taken place.  Early ultrasounds are much more accurate at dating a pregnancy because for the first trimester development takes place at the same pace...but the later on you get the more likely a fetus could have an early growth spurt, or just be growing large and etc.

    Good luck!!!!!!!!
