There's a question in the application that says " how many days have you been outside the United States in the past 5 years?".... I am applying based on marriage, which means I've been in the U.S only 3 years of the past 5 years... how do I answer this question??, do I add the 2 years I haven't been in the country?? Help!!

  1. Your response should be based on the total number of years you have lived in the U.S.

If you have lived in the U.S. for 3 years, and you have been outside of the US for a total of 10 days, then you list 10 days.

If you have lived in the U.S. for 5 years, and you have never left, then you would list 0 days.

    Etc, etc.

  2. Answer truthfully. Add the two years. Part 7 question c will straighten the whole thing out.
