I've started a group for Relay for LIfe (possibly 1000 members)

I want them to find us in a 'search' of Yahoo groups *if they need--but want to limit membership to ONLY those registered... I DO though want others to be able to 'view' messages who aren't members. any thoughts

Oh-I could NOT find my group listed when I did a search...OlneyRelay4Life

  1. which did you make the group? closed or restricted?

a new group wont list right away. a closed group wont list at all, and is invite only (wont be found in a search) closed is also something you cant go back and change. once a closed group; always a closed group.

restricted means you approve memberships which is a good idea.

    Listing

on the home page in description Description (Edit) <-- click the edit (or management- under group settings click description and appearance- Description (Edit) <-- click the edit) scroll down to Listing Type:- check Listed in Yahoo! Groups directory- click save changes

    for messages

management- under group settings click messages-Posting and Archives (Edit) <-- click the edit- scroll down to Archive Options:

Anyone = means non members and will be found in searches on the web

Members = only members can read them

    Moderators

    Off

    click save changes
