Ok, the other day my bf bit me and said it was a symbol of love. Does this actually mean something, or did he just make it up?

If you enjoy it, light biting can be sensual.

In addition the symbolism of having part of you inside of him can be sexually stimulating, but there's nothing inherent about biting symbolizing love.  If you enjoy it, that's fine, if you don't tell him to knock it off.

How hard did he bite you?  Did it seriously hurt you?  My boyfriend always playfully bites me, and I playfully bite him sometimes, but never to the point where I would be concerned about it.  Yes, "playful" biting can be a form of affection, but when they take it too far and you don't like it, it's not.  I wouldn't be too worried about it, unless he gave you a reason to be worried about it.

That is not a widely accepted symbol of love.  If the bite left a mark, a bruise, or a "hickey" well, people do do that.  Some people do it until it hurts and the other person doesn't like it.  If it caused you pain, you asked him to stop, and he didn't, you are dating an abuser.  It may escalate to other forms of "love symbols" like a "tap" with a fist.

NOTE:  if the bite broke the skin, you need to see a doctor.  A human mouth is documented to leave more germs than a dog's.  You can get sexually transmitted diseases and you may never know whether he had something as simple as a dental cavity that transmitted germs to your skin.

He's not lying, I think biting can be kind of s**y. As long as it's not like vicious biting or anything.

I actually bit this guy I like today, and I could tell from his face that he was all flustered.

I think it depends on where and when this happened. If you know he didn't do it to hurt you than maybe it was a silly way of showing you love. You should be able to tell in your heart, trust yourself!

Anyway, your boyfriend probably found it kinky to bite. Stirs senses up a little bit. Biting is a playful kind of flirtation actually. If you don't like it, tell him not to do it.
