hey, i am buying my first NEW snowboard and i just ordered a rome agent 152 cm.

Now it comes to bindings:

My shoe size is size 9.5 and i was wondering what size binding i should buy. Also, how are FLOW bindings? (i hear they are much more convieniet, but is there any disadvantages with FLOW?).

One more question, do u have to buy boots form the same company u buy bindings from?

thanks in advance!

  1. the rome strut, its better to buy ur bindings from same company u bought board

  2. First off ignore these two previous answers. The only good advice is to go with Burton bindings. Missions are good but Cartels are where it is at. It isnt cat strap either, I dont want you to get laughed at when you go to buy "Cat Strap" Burton bindings lol. It is CAP Strap. Cap Straps are the only way to go, old school toe straps are lame, they cut off circulation and they dont hold your boot in place as well. Avoid the Flows because the Flow bindings have compatibility issues with some boots. The Idea behind them is ok but they just dont function all that well and they dont stay tight for long. Also you need to make sure of your boot size before getting bindings, I wear a half size larger boot than shoe personally but it may be different for you. Your size is tricky because it is right on the edge of Medium and Large in Burton bindings. Medium Bindings are for size 8-10 boots and 10+ is Large. SInce you are a 9.5 you will probably wear a 10, 10.5 at the biggest, I would suggest a Medium binding for a better fit, you dont want to have too much room in your baseplate to slip around in. A bonus is that Large is the most common size and you can find good discounts on Medium bindings. Also your boot brand DOES matter, boots and bindings are designed to fit together by the companys that make them. I.E. Burton boots go best with Burton bindings and Forum boots with Forum Bindings. If you get Burton Bindings I recommend Burton Boots. A good fit in your bindings and boots will make an incredible difference in your control of the board. Burton does have an awesome warranty that they claim is the best in the businesss, it is called the W48 program. All Burton bindings carry a lifetime warranty and the boots have a 1 or 2 year warranty. I own 3 sets of Burton bindings and 2 sets of Burton boots. Check out www.Sierrasnowboard.com that is where I get all my stuff and they have the best prices on gear plus free shipping, Well good luck bro and have fun this winter!

  3. yoo awesome choice with the board, and bindings, just check the size readings specs on bindings that will tell you what size binding to get, usually that can be found out online, and as for the other people, dont listen to them, burton bindings are NOT where its at, burton is just a hype, and im glad you didnt get a burton board, their bindings suck, my cartels i had a few seasons ago, the ratchets freeze up in cold weather, the other straps break so easily, they really suck, dont bother, go with rome, they are sicker bidnings, hold together sooo well, mine i've had for 2 years havent broken a single thing once, check out any rome binding, gaurenteed better than burton!

  4. nice choice of snowboard! now as for bindings go, depending on the brand you will want either a medium or large binding. fit your boots into them before buying to be sure. my best advice for you is to stay away from flow. personally, burton missions are the way to go. but any ratchet binding with a cat strap is going to be good. a cat strap is where the bottom binding strap goes around your toes rather than across your toe knuckles. some cat straps are built in a 90 degree angle. you dont want those because they slide over your foot. get the ones that are rounded and have no angle. like the 2008 burton missions. as for boots go it doesnt matter for brand to brand with bindings. i would recommend you stay away from boa boots because you have less control over your pressure points. burton hails are awesome! (i like burton) have fun!!!

  5. I'm guessing that you are planning on doing freestyle riding due to the fact that you ordered the agent? I'm not a big fan of the flow bindings, my friend had them, and when he would hit big jumps the back would come down due to the impact of the board on the snow.  Rachet bindings might take a couple more seconds, but its way worth it.  I would suggest buying size large bindings.  You don't have to buy boots from the same company, but I was once told that Burton warranties any damage done to their boots if you have Burton bindings. (not 100% sure about the last part might want to look it up)

  6. Flow make good bindings but i wouldent say they are more convientent as such. It more comes down to personal preference some people love flows some hate them. There bindings are good quality but i still prefere the more conventional strap style of binding.

As for buying the same boots and bindings from the same company you dont need to do this. Some boots clash a bit with certain bindings so its best to check first but generally its not a problem. I would actually rate footwear percific companys like Northwave, 32, Vans and DC as making the best quality boots, none of these brands make bindings but they fit well into most types of binding. For bindings id recommend Ride, Burton bindings may look flash but there not the most durable i broke a pair in two weeks once. Hope this helps, Good luck with the riding.
