If my Gran and Grandad on my mum's side are Irish and my nan on my dad's side is also Irish but my Grandad is English. And both my parents and me have lived in england all our lives and I have an English Accent, What does that make me?

  1. It's make you eligible to play on the Irish football team, if the Granny rule still applies of course

    Technically you are English, you were born England but you could eligible for an Irish passport through your grandparents.  

    For some people the issue of being Irish is very cut & dried, one is born on the island & that's your claim, that's the end of the story.  Unfortunately it's not that simple, there are a million variations on the theme.  I've met second generation Australians who are complete Paddy's in everything except the accent & children of Irish parents raised in England who feel so uncomfortable in England they gladly took the Irish passport & moved to Ireland.  

    From my own experience, it's where you feel at home & what you identify with that will help you determine what you are.  You have to decide for yourself who & what you are, don't ask strangers on the internet.

    that would make you English as it is your place of birth but under law due to having just one grand parent that is Irish you can hold both an Irish or English or both passport you can also hold what is call duel citizenship
