Ok, well I want to get a blackberry through Cingular (AT & T whatever) but I am very confused about what is required.

Let me throw you a list of questions and please copy and paste if you want to get a chance at best answer!

If you have a contract already, do you get the "discounted" price?

Can I trade in my old phone to get a rebate type thing?

What does it mean a data plan?

Is there an email/unlimited text plan (if so how much)?

Just wondering because I don't want to go in there sounding like an idiot. Thanks in advance.

  1. you only get the discounted price if you are eligible for an upgrade.

they don't take trades, they have no use for your old phone

a data plan is for if you are going to use internet, you don't HAVE to get it, but it is recommended if you are going to use internet on your phone

unlimited data plan is $30 a month

unlimited texting is $30 a month, for the family plan, $20 for just one line

    data/texting plans are different things.

on my family plan there are 2 blackberries(curve, & pearl), I have unlimited texting for the family, but no data plans, they use computer for internet, & checking e-mails!!!!!

  2. If you're qualified for an upgrade (you've already fulfilled your 2 year commitment), you will be able to get a discounted price.  You might check out Wirefly.com or LetsTalk.com.  They have free Pearls!  As for trading in your current phone, my local store requires you do that - but you won't have to if you order it online or by phone through AT&T.  A data plan is a necessity if you plan on going online.  Otherwise, they charge per byte, which is VERY expensive.  The BB data plan is $30 / mo, and it allows for unlimited data (internet, email, etc.) usage (not including texting).

I hope this helps!  Good luck!
