Confused over how much tax I should have paid?

I earned £6200 in this past tax year and I was taxed £240 does that seem right? I thought I only paid 10% over my £5225 tax free? Any help would be great, thank you!

What code number did your employer use? It doesn't look right, unless you had something restricting your code number, like untaxed interest received, or a previous tax underpayment being collected. Your best bet is to send form P60 to tax office, and ask for computation and refund.

I would have expected your tax deduction to be £97.50 and NIC £110.00 if you had a normal code number of 522L.
