Confused please help asap?

I know I may sound dumb right now, but I need to know this. Okay my boyfriend proposed to me. He haven't gave me a ring yet. He wants me to choose an engagement ring that I like. I just want to know what are wedding sets. Do one go one the finger as an engagement ring and the other goes as a when you say I do?

The first is the engagement ring.  The second is the wedding ring.  The third is the enternity ring which you get after one year of marriage.  Now the order they go in... while you are engaged you wear just the engagement ring.  On your wedding day give your enagement ring to your maid of honour until after the ceremony which she will give it back to you and you wear it after your wedding ring.  When you get your eternity ring you wear that after the engagement ring.  All three belong on the same finger on the left hand.

Wedding sets are just two rings that match/compliment one another. Of course you would wear the engagement ring first but when it comes time to say "I Do" you should take your engagement ring off and then put it back on after/on top of your wedding ring.

The wedding ring goes on first overall because its supposed to be closer to your heart.

Yes,Wedding sets consist of the actual engagement ring  you get when he proposes to you and the actual wedding band you get on your wedding day when you say your vows. You can purchase those two rings together as a set in a jewelry store ,that it what is called a "wedding set" they match and fit together, but of course you hold on to the wedding until your actual wedding day, for now you will just be wearing your engagement ring. Although I have to say I never really knew the eternity band was considered part of an actual wedding set , to me that is just another addition to the set that you get on your one year anniversary, not the actual meaning of a wedding set itself.

I have always heard that the wedding band goes on after the engagement ring to " close the deal" or to seal the engagement.......but as far as the set... I have no clue.. it would make sense though to use one as a anniversary ring I guess

One thing that the other contributors have left out (and that I only recently learned) is that sometimes you can have your rings soldered together before the wedding, so it attaches the wedding band to the engagement ring and makes it one ring.  Talk to your jeweler about this when you're shopping.

yeah wedding sets are great like that. you get the big sparkly one as an engagement ring, and then on your wedding day you get the other one as well. it's nice because that way they are guaranteed to match without having to be specially made... most engagement rings today are so ornate and individual that wedding rings have to be custom made to fit with them!
