i am 18 and just graduated high school and am interested in marines and navy. i am leaning towards marines because they have more hands on action type of jobs. my mom wants me to go into the navy because its more safer. i am considering the navy but i cant find an interesting job i would be interested in doing for 4 years. i have already talked 2 recruiters for both and each time i talk to them there story's tend to change. and i need honest answers. my question would be, does the navy offer any adrenaline rush jobs like the marines do besides seals? and how dangerous is the marines? i appreciate personal honest answers that can help me in making the right decision for me. thx

  1. You aren't going to get any straight answers from a recruiter.  Their job is to fill billets, and they will tell you anything that needs to be told. The marines are the first ones on the battle lines.  That is why so many of them are killed in Iraq.  Not the safest job in the world, but exciting if you like being shot at in this war of wars.  Being in the service gets to be like any other job after a while.  You get bored with it, disgruntled with life; however, the medical benefits are remarkable, free dental, a place to lay your head on a pillow, guaranteed paychecks every two weeks, and 30 days leave per year.  You may get to see the world while being paid for it.  You can't beat that with a stick. I am afraid I have to vote with your mother about you joining the Navy.  There are a lot more jobs to be had there, but what you do will depend on your military test scores.  It has to be determined that you are intelligent enough to do lots of the jobs.  It is the same with all branches of the military.  Ten to one, if you went Marine Corps right now, you would find yourself in Afghanistan on the front lines.  The service is a great life.  My son is in the Army.  He lives on post in a 4 bedroom house with two living rooms, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, AC/heat, and a nice yard.  It doesn't cost him a plug nickel.  Of course, he is married with two kids.  I could go on about the service all day long.  I loved it.

  2. I joined the Army and loved it. My brother is in the Marines and he loves it to death!! I'm not sure if all marines get deployed right away and if that is the adrenaline rush you are looking for but it could happen. My brother finished his schooling in Novemeber, went to Camp Pendleton in December and deployed in January.  He is doing 2 back to back tours, not sure how that happened but he couldn't be any happier with his choice and it shows.

  3. I depends on what adrenaline rush jobs you are asking about.  You have to consider that some jobs in the military are based on how well you pass the ASVAB.  If you can't get certain jobs then they should be able to tell you how likely it would be to get them or not.  If you are truly about the non stop adrenaline rush instantly then you should go Marines but it may not be that way in the beginning in the Navy.  All the military services can give you what you want and I would urge you to look into all of them, particularly the Army because you can get guarenteed the job you want on paper before you sign anything and they have many jobs that will give you the rush you are looking for as well as satisfy your mother's worry about it being safe.  I will say that nothing is every "safe" as we would like it to be.  The key is to try to do something you will like so that you are happy and that will make you pay attention to what you are doing and you will be safe in your job.  It makes such a difference.

    Hope this helps, good luck

  4. If you are that kean on getting killed go marines . If you survive the experimental drug use on you ? Then you get your chance to be shot at there .

  5. id say special operations would be your best bet. Also, their are many safe jobs in the marines too. Do what you want to do, not your mom

  6. My husband is n the marines I would say them the navy is more laid back there are many of jobs that you will find interesting in the marines

  7. Well i joined the marines because not only are they the toughest but have the most fun. There are over 300 jobs in the marine corp and they have pretty much all the same jobs as the navy expect medic but marines are the first in to combat. If you are looking for the best I would choose the marines.
