Confusing Time travel ?

Question

A girl goes back in time and kills her grandmother

Since her grandmother is dead she was never born

but that means she never killed her grandmother

?????????

Can any one understand it?

Very much of our ideas come from other ones. When Einstein said that time was a dimension, someone thought that it would be possible to move in it just as we move in space.

When Einstein said that the speed of light was a limit, someone thought that there would be 'wormhole' or other possibilities to travel great distances across galaxies.

But ask yourself: Can you move slower than standing still? Can you cut zero egg in two?

Those are examples we can easily understand and the truth is: it is as hard to 'travel in time' as it is to move slower than standing still.

I am sorry, the time travel paradox, as you have explained it, is simply a question that cannot be asked. Here are other questions that cannot be asked: What was before the Big Bang and what is the universe expanding into. It's just the way things are. We see the universe as we see our daily life but the truth is ... it can't be compared.

Well known paradox of time travel - The grandfather paradox. You have used the example of a grandmother in your case. That if the grandmother was killed, the girl was never born, which means she could not have gone in time to kill her grandmother, which means that the grandmother would have lived, which again implies that the girl would have been born...aaargh. You get the point. This paradox, due to its existence, is known to prove that time travel can not be possible.

But there are other theories against this too.

well she did killed the grandmother but then it was erased because she was never born, due to the fact that her grandmother died.

It is quite possible that she could kill her grandmother and still be born. Since you didn't say that her grandmother hadn't given birth to her mother.
