Question:

Confusion! Idaho, or Washington....where does Garnet live?

It's been brought to my attention that my answers have become confusing. I state that I live in Idaho, near Blackfoot, high mountain desert, 4700+ feet elivation. Yet I have started to answer as though I'm in Washington State, at sea level, in the Pacific Northwest.

Hubby and I DO live in Idaho. However we have decided to move back to the farm in Washington. I am very excited about the move, as there is not place I like better on earth, than the farm in WA ( have lived there before). So my answers are sometimes coming from either point of view...the farm in Idhao, or the farm in Washington....so confusion for people who read my answers frequently.

So this question does not get deleted for chatting, I will now take comments/advice on moving a circus....that is 70+ goats, 5 horses, 5 working farm dogs, 2 cats, 12 farm vehicles including tractors and a bulldozer, and to top it all off one personal library which has thus far filled 51 boxes (I'm not done packing books!).

  1. I will answer your question with a question.  Exactly how many miles is it from the Idaho farm to the Washington farm?  I have used Zeigler Livestock to ship a breeding boar to my place from MT and I was very please with their service and price.  That was almost 2 years ago now and I don't know what has happened with the prices since.  They will give you their route schedules which fit into mine quite nicely.

And I do know a number of local truck drivers that would take your run but I have to know what the mileage is.  Expect to pay $2.50+ per mile though.  As for the library it might take one truck alone....loll....

  2. I wish you the best of luck.

    Label each box carefully!!!!

I was furious at my husband for labeling MANY boxes 'lerpdeshuch' instead of what was actually in there! (I told him to label and he thought he would be funny!)

Don't try to make the move while 3 months pregnant, have food poisoning, and a small dog with 2 broken legs (trust me - I tried it - NOT FUN!)

    Lots of good music.

Last packed should be first out. (Necessities)

So, do they make packing boxes for goats?

    :-)

  3. My advice is to get plenty of help.  Call your home teachers or something!  Have the Relief Society make some box lunches for the trip too :)

  4. I am so surprised. I thought you really liked it there. Are Y'all renting the farm land or just own both properties. I thought you lived in Idaho.I imagined it to be like the scenery from Brokeback mountain well the little bit I saw before I had to turn it off. I could not watch it, but I did like the scenery. I really have no idea where that was. I expect the people in Washington to be greener in general than Idaho, but personally I have no idea. My solution is to stay where you are that should be the greenest option. Remember, the grass is not always greener on the other side. Also, wherever you go there you are... We will still be here so why go to all that trouble.lol.
