  1. You asked the wrong question.

    The correct question is

Why does 12:45am Saturday, September 13 come before 11:13am Saturday September 13?

  2. It is settled.

    Do not think.

  3. technically, of course, it's neither. But we call it 12:00 AM because then it is consistent throughout the hour.

12:01 is AM, 12:02 is AM...etc. therefore for consistency we call it 12:00 AM

  4. We have 24 hours in a day. It makes sense to designate the different parts of the day by saying morning, late afternoon, etc. All of these sayings fall within the two halves of the day. Beginning with 12:00 AM midnight, we go about the entire clockface through early, mid, and late morning until 11:59 AM. We cant say 12:00 AM again because that portion of the day began with that. So it's 12:00 PM noon. After early, mid and late afternoons and evenings we come to 11:59 PM, and with the same logic in mind that we can't say 12:00 PM again, we arrive at 12:00 AM midnight. So AM is for the morning half of the day and PM for afternoons and evenings. Counting from midnight to midnight gives us our 24 hours.

  5. It is consistent with the Earth's rotation. It is in midset where the moon is beginning to set and the sun is beginning to rise. A pass between two parts.
