Congrats USA Basketball, but they are no 1992 Dream Team, are they?

Question

Before thisweekend there were many discussions on whether the current Olympic Team is as good or better than the 1992 team. I look at the rosters and I only see 2 maybe 3 players from the 2008 team making the 1992 dream team. Kobe instead of Laettner, James instead of Mullin, and there could be a conversation about Wade and Drexler, but that is it.

Of course not. They are a totally different team with different players playing in a different era. Still, they came away with the Gold which was the Ultimate goal just like the Original Dream Team did.

That is nothing to compare to,The 1992 team was a real dream team seeing they were the frist to compate in the olympics,This team was put togother 3 yrs ago when the orginal ways did not work anymore.All i can say is if this team played the orginal it would be a messy game lol.

The Dream Team had no competition of course they won by 40 every game. Rudy Fernandez and Pau Gasol are NBA all star caliber, calderon and navarro are very good. Marc Gasol is gonna be a solid NBA player, rubio will be a top 5 pick if he chooses to come to the NBA when he's 19. Spain is not a bad team and they played as well as they possibly could and Kobe Bryant just shut the door on them. I think the Dream Team would still beat this team, but only because the Dream Team had the greatest basketball player and athlete ever in Michael Jordan.

It is not fair only comparing the Redeem Team vs Dream Team roster without comparing its opponents.

I don't think any opponent teams in 1992 were playing as good (closely good) as Spain or Argentina or Greece were.

Count how many international nba players in 1992 as oppose to 2008. You'll get the answer easily.

Yes, the Redeem Team is not the same as Dream Team, but the Redeem is only missing couple of big guys. They should've brought Garnet, Duncan and Stoudamire as oppose to Dwight, Bosh and Boozer.

If they bring Garnet, Duncan and Stoud, the Redeem will be as great as 1992 Dream Team.
