Question:

Congratulations Bunnies?

If you didnt watch the game, After half time when the players ran back onto the field, There were little footy players (7 years old at the most) putting their hands out for a Tiger or Bunnies player to come past and touch it. The tigers were first out and noone bothered to even look twice at the children, when the bunnies came out, nearly every single player gave the kids a hi-5. I think Souths should be congratulated for that. Who knows? They could be those little kids heroes now.

My question: What are your thoughts on this?

Why did the tigers just run past and not bother to make a childs day?

  1. if Souths had of concentrated on the game and not some bunch of little brats they might not have got smashed

  2. GO THE RABBITOS

but back to your question the rabbitos have allways been friendly to kids becuse when the bunnys play they play for there fans not to mention kids are the fans of the future (they pay the players wages) if u pay them no attention then there going to show the players no attention hence no money for exsample my cousin is 6 and loves the bunny becuse we took her to a broncos and bunnys game the broncos just shuned her and refused to give her an autograph after the game but the bunny were more then happy to with a smile she even got a cuddle

  3. i think they had other things on their mind. they were behind in points so they were proberly getting fired up and when u look around giving people hi-5's ur mind is not on the game anymore. Now the bunnies were ahead in points soo they were proberly more relaxed and more cheerful.

  4. Your about to get bashed for 40 minutes, having to run about 6kms. My mind wouldn't be on giving a kid a high-five. You only see them when they come out but i know that those kids get to meet the players after the game.

  5. They cant worrie about fings like that half way threw a footy game, so im ok either way

  6. It's simple really.

    The Rabbitoh's are a battler's club, a foundation club.

They've got tradition and a proud history.

They were tossed out of the comp. but they came back again because of THEIR FANS.

They respect their fans, always have, always will.

These new johnny come lately merger clubs just don't have the same spirit or tradition. I bet Wests at Lidcombe or Balmain at Leichhardt would've handed out high fives, maybe even tussled a few haircuts-but the West Tigers? Would the Saint George (small illawara) Dragons do that?

I remember watching Rod Wishart at Steelers Stadium stay back for 20-30 minutes after the game to sign autographs and have his photo taken with the kids. The Steelers were building a base, a tradition.

Big ups to the Bunnies and don't write them off yet-the old Redfern finish will get them into the semis!

  7. i agree with everyone else

they had their minds set on something else

something more like trying to play a good game of football, not worrying about hi fiving every kid that has their hand out

  8. DEFINATELY!!

all those kids want to get is a hive five from players and they cant even extend their hand out.

its not like its gunna make them tired or hurt them

i say good work bunnies for doin that.

you wont see that again for a long time

  9. Yes we noticed that here too. My daughter called the tigers pigs! It wouldnt hurt them to acknowledge the kids there.

  10. I didn't see it but yes I agree some players forget who is really important.

tell you a quick story, we went up to suncorp to watch the Rabbits play the bronco's a few years ago. we were sitting near the try line with a hundred of so mad rabbits fans all around.

my little sister was sitting next to me, the only one in the middle of all these fans wearing a bronco's jumper and holding a bronco's flag. . anyway bronco's scored and as Gordon tallus walked back to his spot for the kick off the crowd were giving him heaps.

he turned looked at the crowd and gave my little sister a wave, wink and smile. then turned back to got on with the game.

    what a champion.

my little sister was 9 at the time and that made her day.

she was bragging for months how big Gordie waved to her.

that's what its all about. its a shame so many players forget that.

  11. I totally agree with you babe - kids need to be impressed by the players not ignored.

  12. i thought i was heaps nice for the souths to do that.. i guess the tigers had thier mind on the game and wernt really interested.. but well done souths
